Happy Sunday! Whether you’re watching football, hitting the gym or taking a rest day, be sure to make yourself a green smoothie. I have been waiting for the purple and black and blue bruising to go away on my legs from my crash before taking any leg shots, it’s amazing how fast I was able to heal - I attribute a lot of it to the power of Green Smoothies!! That’s what’s up! This recipe is a great post-workout blend, also appropriate as a light meal replacement or snack. I featured a lot of blueberry green smoothies in my healthy eating system book (Betty Rocker’s Fuel System), and I will keep coming up with new recipes to share with you. Here’s what I put in today’s Blueberry Banana Green Smoothie:
4 stalks kale, 1/4 cucumber, 1 stalk celery, 1/4 cup fresh parsley, fresh mint, chunk of fresh ginger (peeled), 3 T hemp seeds (extra protein), 2/3 cup blueberries (I had frozen), 1 banana, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp nutmeg, 1/2 cup almond milk, 1/2 cup water. I’m a big fan of Blueberries, especially post-workout because they are an ANTIOXIDANT SUPERSTAR: “What is surprising about the blueberry research is its whole body relevance. It is not only the cardiovascular system that has been shown to have strengthened antioxidant status following consumption of blueberries. It is virtually every body system studied to date! For example, there is new evidence that damage to muscles following overly taxing exercise can be reduced through consumption of blueberries. There is also evidence that protection of the nervous system from oxidative stress can be accomplished by regular consumption of blueberries. These antioxidant-based protective effects have been shown in older adults at risk of neurodegenerative diseases, as well as in younger healthy adults and middle-aged obese adults. Antioxidant protection of the blood sugar regulatory system has also been demonstrated in blueberry intake studies, as has antioxidant protection of the digestive tract (especially with respect to the colon and its risk of cancer). It’s this whole body antioxidant support that helps blueberries stand out as an amazing antioxidant fruit.” -WH Foods ⭐⭐Eat some blueberries! And have an amazing, healthy day. 💪💪 #eatclean #bettyrocker #instagramfitness #fitfam #fitness #healthyrecipes #greensmoothies #simplegreensmoothies @bodesquad #fitspo #inspiration #motivation #dedication (at www.thebettyrocker.com)
